To become a member of this group, email me your email address and I will add your name to the list.  You can come to here to get emails of any members you want to contact.  Anyone is welcome to join this barter and local currency group or to come to any of the meetings to get ideas to form your own group in your neighborhood.  However, the primary focus I have for this group is to set up a barter and or local currency system for the area within a 15 minute bike ride radius from the Ina and Thornydale intersection.

Purpose of Presentation
The purposes of the presentations are to help people understand how the present monetary system operates and its impact on our economy, government and lives.  I hope that through these discussions people will comprehend how our Federal Reserve, Central Banks and the Banking system throughout the nation and world has become the most powerful, dangerous political force on the planet.

Meeting Dates For Ina Thornydale Self-Reliance, Barter and Local Currency Group

     I am looking for neighbors interested in becoming more self-reliant.   I am looking for others interested in bartering skills and services so that we can rely on each other to provide water, food, shelter and health care if the economy worsens.  Considering the precarious state of our economy and dollar I am also looking for others interested in setting up a local currency.

I have tentatively selected the second Wednesday of each month to meet with interested individuals in a 15 minute biking distance radius of the area around Ina and Thornydale at the Peter Piper Pizza at the North east corner of Ina and Thornydale at 7:30.  Here are the tentative meeting dates for 2011 and 2012.  Hopefully I did not make any mistakes!
Any changes in the schedule will be in red.  
The meeting for November 9, will be postponed until November 10th at the same time and same place because of family commitments.

Rationale

I do not think our government can take care of us nor should they.  A case can be made that they should have a role in helping people that can’t help themselves but when too many rely on government, nations collapse.  With four wars, entitlements and other demands our money is being devalued through inflation and some day the dollar drastically will lose purchasing power through hyper-inflation or the government will simply devalue it.  Either way all will be hurt who rely on dollars to exchange goods and services.  Barter and local currencies are two ways people can protect against this possibility.  Specifically I am looking for folks to barter goods and services with although I am open to creating a local currency as well.  Below are my areas of expertise to barter, as well as areas I am looking for help.

Expertise

I have a Masters in reading and can tutor students who need help in reading or other areas.  I have been an elementary teacher for 24 years in Kindergarten through 2^nd grade and can tutor students in subjects at this level or can provide activities for parents involving academics or discipline.

Some Knowledge

I studied nutrition, meditation, yoga, and exercise and have pretty good success overcoming chronic health conditions.  I practice organic gardening and can do heavy labor or yard work.  Also I am some what familiar with the workings of the monetary system.

Areas I Want Help

I want to expand my knowledge in the areas I have some knowledge.  I want to start a bartering or currency system with interested neighbors, possibly setting up a website to facilitate it.  I also want help learning how to repair items in the yard or house including plumbing or electrical skills.  I would also like to improve my presentation about the Federal Reserve and become more effective communicating on the internet.
